How much does SEO cost in Belgium?

What does SEO cost? The short answer

"How much does SEO cost?" is the question most business owners ask before they call anyone. The honest answer: it depends on what your website needs, how tough the competition is and how much work you want to do yourself. That is why you will not find a table of market prices in this article. We have no research that would back such a table, and price ranges without a source are mostly sales talk.

What we can do is explain where SEO costs come from, what you can expect for your money and which questions to ask an agency before you sign. With that, you can compare quotes yourself, ours and anyone else's.

One-off setup versus monthly work

SEO costs fall roughly into two blocks, and it helps to keep them apart.

The one-off setup lays the foundation. Think fixing technical errors, good page titles and descriptions, clear service pages, setting up your Google Business Profile, structured data and a logical internal link structure. You do this work once, properly, and it stays in place.

The monthly work is what comes after: new and improved content, technical monitoring, adjusting internal links, keeping an eye on competitors and reporting on what is happening. SEO is not a switch. Searches, competitors and Google itself change, so standing still in practice means slowly losing ground.

An agency that only bills monthly with no clear starting phase, or that sells a one-off package and then disappears, is telling you half the story. Always ask how much of your budget goes to the foundation and how much to ongoing work.

What Sozially charges for this

We work with two SEO options, and the prices are also on our pricing page:

  • Local SEO Starter Package, €250 one-time. A one-time local SEO foundation: service pages, metadata, Google Business Profile, schema and internal links. It is not included in a website package unless it is listed separately in the proposal or order.
  • SEO Growth Support, €500 per month. Monthly SEO: content, internal links, technical SEO and reporting. The minimum term is three months.

You will find more detail on our SEO optimisation page. Whether those two options fit you depends on your situation, which is exactly what the rest of this article helps you judge.

What determines the price of SEO?

When you compare quotes, look at these five factors. They explain almost every price difference.

  1. Where you start. A site with technical problems, thin pages or no clear service structure needs repair work first. A site that is already well built mostly needs refinement.
  2. Local or national. A plumber who wants to be visible in one city has a smaller playing field than a web shop competing nationwide. More keywords, more pages and more competition means more work.
  3. The competition. In some sectors and cities, businesses have been investing for years. You will not catch up with a handful of tweaks.
  4. How much content is needed. New service pages, city pages and articles take time to write well. Cheap content is usually recognisable as cheap.
  5. How much you supply yourself. Real photos, customer reviews and knowledge of your trade make the work faster and better. If an agency has to invent everything, it costs more and the result is more generic.

What is in SEO work?

A serious SEO programme usually consists of the parts below. Ask which of them are included in every quote.

  • Technical fixes: mobile loading speed, HTTPS, indexability, broken links, a correct sitemap.
  • Google Business Profile: the right category, details, photos and a routine for reviews. For local businesses this is often the starting point. Read more in our guide to local SEO in Flanders.
  • Content: service pages and copy that answer what your customers actually search for.
  • Links: internal links on your own site and, where it makes sense, mentions on other sites. Be careful with providers promising "hundreds of links". Quantity is not quality.
  • Reporting: what was done, what changed and what the next step is.

Note that local visibility on your website and setting up or managing a Google Business Profile are not the same thing. An agency should say clearly what is in the package and what is not.

How long before you see results?

This is the question most agencies dodge. We do not give a fixed timeline, because there is none. It depends on where you start, your competition and how often Google revisits your site. Months is more realistic than weeks. That is why programmes with monthly work have a minimum term: a one-month trial says almost nothing about what SEO can do.

For an example of what search results look like in practice, see the Slotenmaker AMG case study. The page shows search results captured on 26 May 2026 from Belgium, and states itself that positions vary by location and moment. It is an example, not a promise for your business.

What to check before you sign

Ask an agency these questions. A good one answers without excuses.

  • What exactly is in the one-off setup and what in the monthly work?
  • Who does the work and how often do I get a report?
  • Which figures do you report, and can I look along in Google Search Console myself?
  • What happens to my site, my copy and my accounts if I stop?
  • What is the minimum term and how do I cancel?

A minimum term of a few months is normal, because SEO needs time. Multi-year commitments, especially without clear reporting, are not.

Warning signs

  • A guaranteed first place. Nobody except Google controls the search results. Anyone promising a guaranteed position or guaranteed traffic is promising something they cannot deliver.
  • Long contracts with no way out and little clarity on what you get.
  • No reporting, or reports that show only vague charts with no explanation of the work.
  • No access to your own data. Your website, domain name and Google accounts should belong to you.
  • A fixed price without looking at your site first. A serious quote starts with a look at your current situation, for example through an SEO audit.

When is SEO not worth it yet?

Sometimes the honest advice is: wait a little.

  • You do not have a good website yet. SEO on a site that is slow, does not clearly say what you do or has no way to contact you is money into a leaky bucket. Start with a solid website.
  • Your offer or audience is not settled. If you are still working out what exactly you sell, you are optimising for something that may change.
  • You cannot handle extra enquiries. If your calendar is already full, more visibility does you little good.
  • You expect results within a few weeks. SEO is the wrong tool then. Paid ads work faster, but stop delivering as soon as you stop paying.

Foundation first, ongoing work later

For many local businesses the logical order is a good foundation first and monthly work afterwards. If you work in a particular city, a page aimed at your region can help, as our pages on SEO in Antwerp and Leuven show.

Not sure where you stand? Have someone look at what can be improved on your site before you commit to an amount. Then you pay only for what is needed.

Conclusion

What SEO costs mostly depends on what you need: a foundation you lay once and work that keeps going afterwards. An honest agency can explain what is in each part, gives no guarantees and reports clearly. Questions about what fits your situation? Get in touch.
